Formerly, the Timorous Deep was the name of the ocean that lay around the continent of Kunark, but was commonly used to refer to the waters north of Kunark, as here lay the primary routes for connecting the continent to the remainder of Norrath. During the Age of Cataclysms, the landmasses shifted and large islands rose from these northern waters, most notably the volcano Gorowyn, which after becoming dormant, emerged as the primary nest of the native Haoaeran.
