Harclave is an ancient Splitpaw hero of old. He fell victim to the destruction of The Age of Cataclysms and became lost in one of the many dark chasms that opened up as a result of the havoc. Finding himself in almost complete darkness, he was set upon by a group of native fungusmen, the Zygomyds. Although outnumbered, Harclave summoned up gnollish battle fortitude, engaged and slaughtered ever last Zygomyd - all in near darkness. In the end, he was defeated not by any foe, but through sheer exhaustion.
In honor of the spirit that Harclave came to embody for the Splitpaw, they designed a test for their fellow gnolls or any would-be adventurer to see if the challenger can live up to the glory of Harclave.
